HIGH STREET GALLERY

In 1967, DSPS bought the house at 48 High Street in what is now designated as the St. Anne's Hill Historical District.  This lovely house, the High Street Gallery, now serves as the home of the Society.

The gallery at High Street was built in 1868 by Wesley Boren, a prominent brick contractor from Tennessee.  After his death, Mr. Boren's family remained in the house until 1916, when it was converted into a rooming house.  During an urban renewal project in the sixties, the house was purchased by the City of Dayton, and later acquired through silent auction by the DSPS.  The building has been declared a landmark by the Montgomery County Historical Society.

The High Street Gallery is the site of numerous Society and private art shows.   Permanent exhibits of the artistic works of charter members and past presidents are housed on the second floor.
