7th Annual DSPS Print Show Sunday March 4th thru Sunday March 25 (gallery open Saturdays and Sundays) |
Eligibility: Open to all printmakers in the Dayton area including: Members of DSPS, Dayton Printmakers Cooperative, and University Senior Fine Arts Majors. All work must be traditional printmaking media including relief, intaglio, etching, drypoint, lithograph, monotype, screen print, etc. $10 cost per entry ($5 for University Fine Arts students - none to visit show and no commissions taken). 7 pm at DAYTON ART INSTITUTE. Regular members' meeting with presentation Jill Scheibler, art therapist, Director of Programming & Operations, Make Studio A registered and board-certified art therapist as well as a painter and PhD student in Human Services Psychology at U of Maryland, Jill Scheibler has over 11 years experience working in educational and human services settings, most recently at: St. Elizabeth School; Art Enables; as a Visiting Artist with Providence Art Institute and as a volunteer with Access Art. As an art therapist, she has worked in the areas of substance abuse, acute mental health, and special education. She conducts qualitative research in the areas of community arts, women's communities, and the empowerment of marginalized populations. Her talk will focus on art therapy and art made by people with disabilities. |

Regular members' meeting with presentation Jessica Roller, painter Using an intentionally primitive style that utilizes bold, contemporary hues, Jessica Roller paints local flora and fauna in a playful and honest manner, intended to excite the imagination and inspire true feeling and virtue. A full-time artist for the past two years, she has sold over a hundred paintings to art lovers and collectors across the country through art festivals and gallery exhibits. Her talk will focus on alternative strategies of making and marketing your art. |
