Artist's
Statement:
"This exhibit is the result of working with the same model for
eight years.
Because he was only about 15 years old when we began, there are physical
changes in the figure. But of greater interest to me were the ever
changing emotions of the figure, particularly of one going through
what can be a challenging time in a young man's life. Not only do
I hope to convey the model's feelings, but the artist's as well.
"The exhibit features drawings, paintings and prints, using graphite,
pastels, relief prints, acrylics and -- my preferred medium -- colored
pencils.
|
 |
"Artistically, I tried to challenge myself with media that I
was not comfortable using. More importantly, I discovered that a lot
more of me goes into a piece of art than I ever imagined. It wasn't
always clear if the expression was that of the model, of the artist,
or maybe a little of both."
